Bellefonte Recovery and Maternity Center, located on the Bellefonte Hospital and Recovery Center campus in Greenup County, Kentucky, provides residential treatment for women with substance use disorders, including specialized care for pregnant and postpartum women. 

Women in treatment, whether pregnant, or not, receive individualized care that includes one-on-one counseling, weekly recovery group therapy, and services led by state-certified case managers. Case managers work closely with each woman to address family needs, education, housing, employment, and long-term stability.

Since opening in 2017, the maternity center has offered hope and life-changing care to women across Kentucky and beyond. For expectant mothers, the maternity center provides comprehensive maternity-focused services, and the dedicated staff and physicians have helped welcome more than 360 babies into the world. Impressively, 76% of babies return home with their mothers within five days or less.

Statistics show that 19 in every 1,000 babies in Kentucky are born exhibiting signs or symptoms of Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS), which may include seizures, sleep deprivation, excessive weight loss, and developmental challenges. At Bellefonte Recovery and Maternity Center, clinical teams work to help reduce NAS symptoms and shorten hospital stays through specialized prenatal and neonatal support.

Women who are pregnant may receive residential treatment throughout the duration of their pregnancy and up to three months postpartum while learning essential neonatal care skills. Mothers and babies live together at the facility, allowing women in recovery to build and strengthen that critical early bond. Located approximately two hours from Lexington in Greenup County, Kentucky, Bellefonte Recovery and Maternity Center provides an accessible and compassionate space where women can rebuild their lives, restore hope, and begin a stronger future.
